Get data back / Recover data from unallocated hard drive(HDD)

December  2012 / 31 4 Comments

Couple a days before, I was in a big trouble with my portable HDD. Suddenly it’s showed as unallocated space and it didn’t appear at “My Computer”, but shown in “Disk management” as unallocated space. Those files in the HDD was very important to me and I didn’t have any backup of those. I was trying to recover those files and I didn’t format the HDD.

So, I was googling for a solution but it was a failure. Then one of my fb friend told me a process to get back my partition of that HDD by using “Test Disk” tool and I did so.

Surprisingly, the hole process took only a single minute and a reboot. Then the HDD appears in “My Computer” with all of my data and I was Very happy to see my HDD back.

Recommendation:  don’t format your HDD without trying this process.
